New Chelsea away kit 'leaked' as Nike set to make bold call with throwback design

Chelsea fans will be looking forward to the end of a difficult season and the build up to the campaign to come in the next few months after a tough year. The Blues currently sit 12th in the Premier League in a season that has seen them spend roughly £600million with four different managers in the dugout - two of which have been interims.

For Boehly-Clearlake, their decision over the next manager will be a huge one to try and give the fans some hope and to get their project back on track. Mauricio Pochettino appears the favourite to be in the dugout going into the following campaign, with a huge task on his hands.

While the summer presents an opportunity to strengthen the side, there will also be an emphasis on moving on some players that won't be needed. Pre-season will also be key to the next manager, given that Thomas Tuchel struggled to deal with a chaotic schedule, while Graham Potter didn't have the luxury of one.

The pre-season will be important on and off the pitch, but for fans it will also be a chance to get excited about seeing their team play once again. There will undoubtedly be the kit reveals for the season that will also help generate hype for the year to come for the Blues.

The home kit will don the traditional blue, though it remains to be seen exactly which other features will be part of the shirt itself. The away kit could be anything, but it appears as though some information has been "leaked" that could show how the kit will look for their travels.

A mock up from Footy Headlines shows a navy and blue shirt that is based on the old away kit from 2002/2003, though the potential design is very bold.

It remains to be seen if that is the design that is opted for by kit providers Nike, with fan opinion yet to be gauged on the decisions.
