Channel 4’s series Scared of the Dark is set to become one of the sweariest TV shows ever when it launches on Sunday.
In the opening hour-long episode the eight contestants and host Danny Dyer say “f***” a total of 90 times as they try to cope with living for up to eight days in the pitch black.
Top of the swearers is actress Donna Preston, star of Netflix drama Sandman, who dropped the F-word 32 times. The 36-year-old came under more pressure than most as she faced the show’s first challenge, which involved unlocking a series of doors as a man in chains slowly crept up on her.
She was followed on the naughty list by ex-Love Islander Chloe Burrows with 26 “f***s”.
Gazza was next and frightened enough to blurt 15 “f***s”, followed by host Dyer, who isn’t even in the dark but still managed nine F-words.
At the lower end of the swearing scale are The Wanted’s Max George, with six and comedian Chris McCausland, two.
Ex-boxers Nicola Adams and Chris Eubank kept it clean along with TV’s Scarlett Moffatt.
In Sunday’s opener, viewers will see Eubank, 56, reacting with horror to the bad language.
Dyer confessed that once he knew the ex-world champ was upset, he egged the others on.
“It was interesting, the swearing thing, because he b*****ked me [for it],” Dyer said. “So I thought, ‘Oh OK, so now I’m really going to encourage every other f***er that you are allowed to swear’.
"When everybody walked in, they went, ‘F***ing hell’ and I could see him just cringing.”
Bear Grylls’ The Island is thought to hold the record for the sweariest British show, with one episode in 2016 including 67 “f***s”, 23 “sh**s” and one “c***”.
