Nike plans to offer a new Boston Celtics-inspired re-release of the iconic Air Jordan 1 sneakers in the summer of 2023 according to the site SneakerHeadz. This news comes shortly after an announced collaboration between Jordan Brand and star Boston forward Jayson Tatum to release the St. Louis native’s first signature shoe line.
The Celtics-inflected Air Jordan 1 sneakers will feature the iconic white and green colorways with striking black Nike swooshes and uppers. The shoes will reportedly retail for $180. The sneakers are meant to be a nod to Michael Jordan’s 63-point game against the Celtics in the 1986 NBA playoffs.
The otherworldly performance from a young MJ led to Boston icon’s Larry Bird’s immortal quip, “that was God disguised as Michael Jordan.”

The shoes will have the original Air Jordan materials and specs, so they might be a little heavier than some current-day shoes most of us are used to.
They also will reportedly be offered with full family sizing in mind.
