Mark Hudson has revealed his pride at being asked to take over as Cardiff City interim manager as he revealed he is only focused on the short term.
Cardiff dismissed Steve Morison with the Bluebirds in 18th position, but only four points off the play-off spots. The appointment of Hudson raised as many questions as it answered, though, with the club stating in its initial statement that they were considering options for the position.
And while Hudson was hesitant to say that his appointment was anything other than short term, he did say that talks with owner Vincent Tan had been positive.

"We have spoken on Zoom and on the phone. It’s an honour for me to be given the trust to lead the club in the interim," he said of his chats with Tan.
"We have three big games in a week, one in two days' time at the stadium. That's our main focus and that's all I've asked the players to focus on. It all comes around so quickly. We looked at Burnley today, trying to put the players’ minds on the game.
"We haven’t spoken about the time scale. It’s about focusing on the games coming up. It's so important. We know how well Burnley are doing, we need to be right at it come Saturday."
He added: "I’ve got two boys who were born here in Wales, so it means a lot. It is an honour to lead any football club, but this one, with its history, to be stood in the technical area for Cardiff, wearing the badge is a proud moment. It’s down to results and we have to focus on this game."
At the time of writing, Cardiff are a coach down, with only Hudson, Tom Ramasut and goalkeeping coach Graham Stack now in situ.
However, Hudson has spoken to the board about bringing another body in on the coaching staff.
"I have spoken about this with the board and Vincent. They have been willing to help me look at it," Hudson added.
"From my point of view, it’s not to be rushed, I don't want to bring just anyone in. It has to suit the football club. It has to be the right person. It’s not to be taken lightly. If that’s not right then it won’t happen. It means a lot to me to make sure that's right."
While fans might want answers to what the longer-term vision has in store, Hudson kept his cards close to his chest when asked what the club's grander plan was.
"Looking at the weekend and the way the game is coming around so thick and fast, the focus is the here and now. That's the players' focus as well," he added.
"We can't look too far into the future because we have a game on Saturday."
