A new fast-food van has launched selling south Asian snacks in Easton. The owner Tanveer Shah, who drives an ice cream van through the summer, previously ran several restaurants in the area, including Dando's on Stapleton Road.
The van called Desi Dhaba sells pakora chips and shami burgers and has vegetarian and halal meat options. It is based in Albion Road and is open until 9pm. Smaller items such as samosas are sold for £2 while the samosa chaats, which include a samosa, chickpea curry and salad, are £4. A small selection of drinks are available, including Kashmiri chai.

Local businessman Mr Shah wanted to try something new during the cost-of-living crisis. He plans to resume with his ice cream van in the summer, regardless of whether his new experiment takes off.
Although the area has an abundance of fast-food restaurants, Mr Shah said that the Desi van offers 'something different' with specific snack foods from Pakistan and neighbouring countries. Mr Shah, who is also a freelance radio presenter, said he enjoys being out and talking to people.
He said it hasn’t been too busy but hopes the business will pick up as locals begin to discover the van. It is from 1pm-9pm.
