The Denver Broncos have added more depth at inside linebacker and, perhaps just as import, they’ve upgraded their special teams.
Alex Singleton (6-2, 240 pounds) has agreed to terms on a one-year deal, the team announced Friday evening. The contract includes $1.1 million guaranteed with an additional $750,000 available through playing time incentives, according to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo.
Singleton is a 28-year-old veteran who spent time with four NFL teams and had a three-year run in the CFL (2016-2018) before joining the Broncos.
Singleton spent the last three years with the Philadelphia Eagles, leading the Eagles in tackles in 2020 (120) and 2021 (137). He was also a key special teams player in Philly, playing in 70%, 67% and 51% of the team’s special teams snaps over the last three seasons.
Singleton has recorded 262 tackles, nine quarterback hits, five pass breakups, three fumble recoveries, two interceptions, two defensive touchdowns and one forced fumble in 42 career games (19 starts).
Singleton will likely get a chance to compete for a starting job this summer, with Josey Jewell and Baron Browning the presumed favorites for the top two inside linebacker spots.
