A new gin shop has applied for an alcohol licence in an empty unit in Broadmead. Signage has emerged on a store in Quakers Friars formerly home to Kurt Geiger.
The application was made by Bramley And Gage Limited on behalf of 6 O'Clock Gin, an artisan gin brand produced in its Thornbury distillery. The family-run business, which started over 30 years ago, has applied for the sale of alcohol at the premises on Sundays between 11am and 5pm and Monday to Saturday from 9am to 9pm.
While there is little known about the new store, Bristol City Council’s Licencing Register Act has said it will sell 6 O'Clock Gin products and merchandise as well as tickets for its tours of the distillery. It is also expected to offer gin sampling.

The record states: “The premises is situated on Broadmead, next to the Apple shop. It's a 20m x 6.5m retail shop that was formerly the Kurt Geiger outfit.
“The shop will sell various types of bottles of gin, glass wear, cocktail sets, merchandise, clothing and tour and experience tickets for our distillery in Thornbury. Sampling will take place on site too.”
6 O’Clock Gin is still finalising plans and is currently unable to comment on the new site. A spokesperson said it will be releasing more information in the next few weeks.
The renowned gin brand previously had a pop-up store at The Mall in Cribbs Causeway back in 2020. It also produced its own hand sanitiser during the height of the pandemic - which sold out just two hours after it first launched.
