In his new book "Yemenization: New Arabic Phenomenon", writer Lotfi Fouad Numan provides a deep reading of the contemporary political scene in Yemen.
He explores the major challenges that have hindered the solution to the Yemeni conflict, discusses novel issues and the role of foreign interference, and raises several problematic questions.
Numan titled his book "Yemenization", which he describes as a new Arabic phenomenon, using his experience and vision as a journalist and researcher, who has always observed the causes and struggles of his country.
"The sad and happy phenomena take time to emerge. Yemenization has been fed by the many events and incidents that hit Yemen, including terrorism, international conferences, political disputes, and then, armed conflicts and protests that seemed popular and nonpolitical," he wrote.
"But politicians managed to exploit and shape these protests to serve the expectations and needs of a minority of influencers, who forgot the majority of the people, ruined their lives, and affected it on the social, political, economic, and cultural levels."
"The foreign parties are not the only conspirator in Yemen, the Yemeni people have a unique ability to conspire against themselves," he added.
"The fight for power, oppression of different categories, distance between the local parties, and troubled ties prove that the internal, disturbed circumstances in Yemen are a key driver of all the storms, concerns, and stances that have formed the new Arabic phenomenon (Yemenization) linked to the destructive phenomena that dominated the region as part the so-called 'creative chaos'," Numan said.
The book includes two introductions: the first, "Yemenization, and Hostage Yemenization", written by Fouad Matar; and the second, "Presentation and Correction", written by Zaid al-Wazir. The two writers discussed their views on the Yemeni conflict, causes, and means to address it.
