New Bolton Wanderers defender's first words after sealing transfer from League of Ireland side

Eric Yoro has become the latest signing for Bolton Wanderers' B team after joining from League of Ireland Premier Division side University College Dublin (UCD).

The 18-year-old has moved to the University of Bolton Stadium for what Wanderers have described as a 'small' transfer fee. He has become the seventh signing for the club's B team, which has been formed this summer.

A more attacking player in his early years, Dublin-born Yoro switched to a central defensive role following his move to UCD in 2020 and is seen as having all the physical attributes and athleticism to build on the promising start to his career. The defender has spoken on his move to Wanderers and is looking forward to getting started for Matt Craddock's side as he aims to get a chance at the first team one day.

He said: “Every game you play you learn and it’s been a brilliant experience for me there. I had a call from the manager to say Bolton were interested. I was shocked. I didn’t know what to say.

“I came in for a meeting to discuss everything and I was delighted. I know Bolton is such a big club so I knew to come here would be a good decision for me and my family.

“It all happened very quickly and I’m happy to be here.

“I can’t wait to get started. With the coaching I’ll get in the B team if I keep working hard and listening and learning, hopefully at some point I can get towards the first team.”
