New BMW 3 Series goes electric from £47,925

The i3 is the first all-electric 3 Series model and it comes in the big-selling car's eighth generation - (Fabian Kirchbauer Photography)

BMW has put a UK price on the new 3 Series, with its electric i3 version starting at £47,925 and the first deliveries due in the next couple of months. That entry price buys the i3 40 xDrive, combining four-wheel drive with a maximum claimed range of 441 miles.

The longer-range i3 50 xDrive starts at £53,425, a £5,500 increase that brings a larger battery, more power and faster charging. Its maximum claimed range rises to that 566 miles figure, while BMW says a ten-minute stop at a suitable rapid charger can add up to 263 miles of range.
