New Black Sheep Brewery IPA offers drinkers a taste of the dark side

One of the nation's most popular breweries is launching a new ale with a dark side. World-renowned Black Sheep Brewery has announced the introduction of new bottled Black IPA - Cry Wolf.

Inspired by the Cry Wolf fable, Cry Wolf is a 500ml premium bottled ale that will be available exclusively in Tesco stores across the country from next month. At 5.0%, Cry Wolf is brewed with Cascade, Columbus, Citra and Chinook hops, combined with black malt, chocolate malt and flaked oats.

Beer lovers can enjoy this punchy Black IPA in the classic 500ml bottle format, typically the preferred option for more traditional styles. Its taste has been described as a fierce bite of roasted malt fused with the gnarly, tropical bitterness of new world hops.

But drinkers should not be deceived, for in the darkness lies a juicy IPA preying on the tastebuds. The launch of Cry Wolf is a step towards Black Sheep’s ambitions to lead innovation in the ‘Premium Bottled Ale’ category.

Jonny Kirkham, head of sales & marketing, said: “We’re proud to announce that we will be launching Cry Wolf exclusively with our friends at Tesco. The ‘wolf’ is a big step in our innovation plans for our PBA portfolio of brands.

"It’s a juicy IPA made with North American hops, making for a tasty, refreshing, and forward-thinking beer, perfect for any occasion. We urge beer lovers to try the fierce bite of Cry Wolf."

Cry Wolf will be available in over 120 Tesco supermarkets nationwide, and will be part of the 4 for £6 deal currently running in-store. It will be joining Black Sheep’s award-winning Milk Stout and Black Sheep Ale on Tesco shelves.

The Black Sheep Brewery is one of British brewing’s most famous and has grown from humble beginnings to become a multi-award-winning company, with its beers enjoyed around the world. As well as its Visitor Centre bar and bistro in Masham, Yorkshire, the brewery also owns and operates a growing number of pubs and bars across the region.
