The new Great British Bake Off presenter had been in a relationship with gardener Ben, and it was speculated the couple were engaged after his dad dropped a hint. Alison, 48, was hosting This Morning alongside Dermot O'Leary when the conversation turned to her relationship status.

The pair were discussing the new reality show Romance Retreat, which has been dubbed the 'middle-aged Love Island', as the former X Factor host encouraged Alison to apply.
