New Ardrossan community campus all set for 2026 opening as update provided

The green light has been given for work to start on the land which will house the new Ardrossan community campus.

And North Ayrshire Council leader Marie Burns has hailed the news.

Cabinet agreed to lease 1,478 square metres of seabed from Crown Estate Scotland to enable the development of the proposed sea wall work at the Ardrossan strategic regeneration site at an initial rent of £38,850.

After that, annual rent would be £1. The lease will enable the development of a sea wall proposed as part of the wider Ardrossan Strategic Regeneration Programme (ASRP).

The ASRP comprises a range of projects, including a new Ardrossan community campus, which are set to transform the central area of the town.

To deliver this programme, a series of enabling works are needed, including construction of a new sea wall to protect the site from coastal flooding risk.

While a decision to formally progress the lease at this stage ties in with the updated project programme to enable opening of the Ardrossan community campus in August 2026, cabinet also approved the council entering into an early consent agreement, should it be required.

Officers would seek to conclude the lease as efficiently as possible, however, to minimise any risk of delay in the construction of the revetment works, an early consent agreement can be concluded before the proposed lease to allow early access to the site.

Council leader Burns said: “Really happy to see this paper here.

“I think the ongoing work on the community campus is really important to all of us and it’s good to see things starting to move.

“Anything that might avoid pushing this beyond August 2026 I am more than happy to agree to.”
