Former New Amsterdam star Tyler Labine has revealed he almost died after mistaking a serious medical condition for a 'tummy ache.'
The famous actor, 45, revealed he visited a local hospital for three days after dismissing what he believed to be a mere stomach ache that later turned out to be a potentially fatal blood clot. He is now home from the hospital and slowly recovering from the medial emergency with support from his loved ones.
The Breaker High star took to Instagram to share a reel of his experience making light of the situation with a compilation of videos of his journey including his trip on the ambulance, being rolled inside the hospital on a stretcher, a selfie giving the camera an 'OK' sign in bed, and a mirror selfie of himself in a light blue hospital gown all put together with the song "Gauze" by Aesop Rock playing the background.
The comedian posted the video with the caption: "Sometimes it's a Tuesday and you're walking around with a tummy ache so you try to sleep it off. Then sometimes you wake up on a weds with a stomach ache so bad you decide to go to the ER at your local hospital. And then sometimes your tummy ache turns out to be a potentially fatal blood clot."
Labine went on to share the details of his medical emergency, explaining that the fatal blood clot was located in his intestines and liver. He shares the blot clot was so severe that he needed to spend three days in the hospital "trying not to die."
He assured fans that he is doing alright now and is slowly recovering with his family and "lovely girlfriend" actress Martha Harms. Labine said he is "counting his blessings and just reassessing what's really important to me in this life".
