Plans for a new £5m Aldi in Moston could create up to 50 jobs. The discount supermarket chain wants demolish the Imperial Lounge Indian restaurant on Victoria Avenue East and build a 20,000 sq ft store in its place.
It's part of the German company's plan to open another 100 stores in England by 2023. A planning application has been submitted to Manchester council to build a new store between Pure Gym and North Manchester Rugby Club.
It would include 119 car parking spaces. The Imperial Lounge 'no longer represents a viable use for the building', and the owners are looking to relocate, according to planning documents submitted with the application.
