Plans for a new development including a 26-storey tower block overlooking Castle Park have been listed on Rightmove. The scale of the site would appear to rival Bristol's tallest building, the new Castle Park View apartment block, which also stands at 26-storeys tall.
Although the idea is in the early stages, pre-planning application, it appears progress is being made. A 'delivery partner' is now being sought to help bring the proposal to life.
It follows the winning design being announced back in March, following a competition run by Goram Homes and Bristol Housing Festival. Estate agents Avison Young says it is now seeking a delivery partner on behalf of Goram Homes, which is Bristol City Council's housing company.

The winners of the design competition, announced on March 14, were Groupwork and McGregor Coxall who impressed the judges with their 'innovative and bold scheme which exceeded expectations'. They proposed two buildings of 26 and nine storeys respectively, housing approximately 190 apartments with mixed uses at ground floor level (such as commercial or hospitality).
Their proposal was that of a carbon negative scheme and the judges felt the winning team had the 'confidence, expertise and experience to bring the site to completion, forming a strong team with Goram Homes'. And now the project has been officially listed on Rightmove, where there proposal is described as a 26-storey tower (not 25 as previously reported), with private sale units, build-to-rent units and a mixed use ground floor.
It states that the development would be connected to Bristol's Heat Network, and has a 'sustainable vision', with a pre-planning application already submitted and a design team in place. New images have also been released on the Rightmove listing, showing what the development would look like. One of the drawings pictures the building in the background of Castle Park, with people in the foreground appearing to be wearing Victorian-style clothing.
The listing reads: "On behalf of Goram Homes, Avison Young is seeking a Delivery Partner for their site at Castle Park. The site is a waterside, high-density development opportunity in the centre of Bristol with potential for private market sale, build-to-rent and affordable Housing.
"Goram Homes is seeking a partner with the expertise to deliver this highly sustainable, landmark development overlooking the Feeder Canal, next to the historic Castle Park and within walking distance to transport hubs and all the comforts of the city centre. The building design was part of a competition won by Groupwork and McGregor Coxall, with a proposal for a stone exoskeleton and cross- laminated timber building, resulting in negative embodied carbon.
"Goram Homes works in partnership to build homes that create communities and are environmentally, socially and economically sustainable. Goram Homes is a subsidiary of Bristol Holding Ltd, which is wholly owned by Bristol City Council."
The proposed site for this new development is located in the south east of Castle Park, overlooking Feeder Canal and Castle Bridge. There is no price advertised on the 'land for sale' listing but the size of the plot is detailed as 27,007 sq. ft.
