New 2022/23 Adidas Arsenal kit: Third shirt unveiled as Gunners continue community initiative

Arsenal have officially unveiled their brand new third kit for the 2022/23 campaign.

The striking Adidas pink kit, which is completed with navy and clear blue trims, as well as navy shorts and pink socks, will first be worn by the Gunners during their Premier League opener at Selhurst Park when they take on Patrick Vieira's Crystal Palace next Friday. The north Londoners' kit release continues the theme of celebrating the Arsenal community, recognising the club's passionate fanbase and the amazing things they are doing within their respective communities.

Four particular community inspirations were mentioned by the club, in the form of Tayshan Hayden-Smith, Sherelle, Jelani Blackman and Melanin Skate Gals & Pals. The club statement on these four inspirations read: " Tayshan Hayden-Smith is a semi-professional footballer and community gardener.

"Tayshan spent a season playing professional football in Austria for FC Kitzbuhel, but it was only after the Grenfell Tower fire in 2017 that Tayshan turned to community gardening when he realised the social and environmental impacts of nature. Since then, he has brought to life his community surrounding the Grenfell Tower amongst other green spaces in the local area by initiating the 'Grenfell Garden of Peace'."

"Sherelle is a DJ and label owner born and raised in North London who played football throughout her childhood at the Peter May Sports Centre, next door to our Hale End Academy. The life lessons and experiences of playing football and following the fearlessness of The Invincibles inspired her to forge her own path of influence as one of the UK's leading DJs, voices and activists in the dance music scene.

"Sherelle is now using her status as one of the most popular and best-loved dance DJs in the country to run her own label and platform called Beautiful, which carries the same ethos: to elevate Black and LGBTQ+ voices and stories that have been neglected."

"Jelani Blackman is a musical artist born in Brixton and raised in Ladbroke Grove as an Arsenal fan. Blackman's connection to Arsenal grew stronger when he moved to Camden Town for college.

"His sound has evolved with influences from his upbringing in Ladbroke Grove and the issues troubling his community, discussing themes of community, culture, youth, relationships and racial inequality. This summer, Jelani played at Glastonbury, and he is also a mentor to a host of upcoming and young artists across North and West London, offering help, support and advice for a community of musicians."

"Melanin Skate Gals & Pals is a London-based collective that brings representation to skateboarding and, in doing so, provides a safe space for BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and people of colour) and a platform for minority voices to be heard.

"Since being founded in 2021, the collective has been steadfast in redefining what it means to be a skater and empowering minority communities by bringing them together and helping break down any barriers they face in skateboarding."

With vibrant colours and shades of pink, the new Arsenal new third kit sees the return of the iconic Ermine pattern, first seen on the club crest in the late 1940s. The shirt is completed with navy and clear blue trims and is combined with navy shorts and pink socks. The kit is available in both authentic and replica versions in men’s and women’s fit, as well as a youth kit which is available for fans to purchase from today.

The new third kit will be worn on pitch for the first time in our opening Premier League fixture against Crystal Palace on Friday 4th August.
