Oliver Glasner must practise what he preaches to Crystal Palace supporters and stay humble.
That is the opinion of legendary Premier League manager Sam Allardyce, who believes the wantaway Eagles boss is looking to leave Selhurst Park in short order.
The Austrian, who led Crystal Palace to FA Cup glory last season, hit back at fans after they sang for him to be sacked during last week’s 1-1 Conference League draw with Bosnian side Zrinjski Mostar.
He said: "Stay humble. Never forget where you're coming from. I think a few who are so critical in this situation are not humble anymore.”
Fans responded by unfurling a banner in the stands as Palace edged past Wolves last week which read: "Opportunities missed - board inept. Fans disrespected - Glasner finished.”
Glasner, who has already confirmed he will leave the club when his contract expires this summer, then doubled down on his comments, saying he would happily leave the club early if asked.
But Allardyce, himself a former Crystal Palace boss, believes Glasner has manufactured the situation to whip fans into a frenzy and earn an early release from his deal.
"He needs to get a bit humbler," Allardyce said, speaking on the No Tippy Tappy Football podcast.
"He needs to swallow a bit of his pride and stop creating this narrative. I'm certain that he's almost creating this to get himself sacked and paid off.
"I think the manager is totally out of order. We all get frustrated by the selling of your best players, but if you're there, it's a fact of life.
"He's really spoiled his reputation on what he has achieved with so little at Crystal Palace, and it's sad that it's probably going to end a little bit bitter."
He continued, saying Glasner should appreciate his position as manager of a Premier League club and the chance Palace afforded him.
"Oliver Glasner should be glad for the opportunity to manage in the Premier League for the first time. Who else would've given him the chance?
“And now he's started criticising the club, the chairman. They're turning on the manager, and rightly so, because of the disrespect he's showing the football club in general, not just the ownership."
