Nevada Secretary of State Francisco Aguilar has announced that his office is actively reaching out to voters via text messages to inform them about the need to cure their mail-in ballots by verifying their signatures before the November 12 deadline. This process is crucial for ensuring that ballots are counted accurately and in a timely manner.
According to the latest data from the Nevada Secretary of State's office, there are currently 13,906 ballots that still need to be cured, while 12,939 ballots have already been successfully cured. The majority of the outstanding ballots requiring curing are concentrated in Clark County, which includes the city of Las Vegas and its surrounding areas.
Aguilar highlighted a concerning trend among younger voters who are more likely to require curing of their mail-in ballots. To address this issue, his office has opted to use text messages as a means of communication, as younger individuals tend to be less responsive to phone calls. The upcoming deadline on Tuesday for curing ballots is expected to impact the timing of election result announcements in Nevada, potentially causing delays compared to other states.
