The Nevada secretary of state’s office has launched a new website to assist voters in 'curing' their ballots by verifying their signatures before the ballots can be counted. This initiative allows voters until November 12 to cure their ballots, ensuring their votes are properly accounted for.
Nevada Secretary of State Francisco Aguilar has emphasized the importance of curing ballots, stating that it is currently the office's primary focus. Aguilar recently briefed Gov. Joe Lombardo on the significance of this issue, highlighting the need for voter participation in the curing process.
As of the latest update, there are 13,317 mail ballots in Nevada that still require curing, a slight decrease from the previous count of 13,906. On a positive note, 14,656 ballots have already been successfully cured as of Tuesday, indicating progress in the verification process.
Notably, Clark County, known for its high voter turnout, has the largest number of ballots awaiting signature verification, exceeding 10,000. The upcoming November 12 deadline for curing ballots is expected to impact the speed of race calls in Nevada compared to other states, as the verification process may prolong the final results.
To facilitate the curing process, Secretary Aguilar has encouraged voters to ensure their contact information in their voter profile is up to date. By proactively updating their details, voters can support the efforts of county officials in reaching out to those in need of curing their ballots, ultimately contributing to a more accurate and inclusive election outcome.
