Netflix viewers 'jaws on the floor' over Tyler Perry's psychological thriller Acrimony

Netflix viewers couldn't believe their eyes after watching Tyler Perry's 'crazy' psychological thriller Acrimony.

The Taraji P Henson -fronted movie, written, produced and directed by Perry, was first released in 2018 but was recently put on the streaming platform.

Also starring Lyriq Bent and Crystle Stewart, Acrimony follows the life of married couple Melinda and Robert.

According to the summary, Melinda 'spirals into a vindictive rage when she discovers that the husband she supported - financially and faithfully - for years has betrayed her.'

The film is divided into parts, with it starting with Melinda and Robert meeting and falling in love in college.

It gradually explores her role as the perfect housewife who makes endless sacrifices for him before she learns about his affair.

Acrimony's 'wild' ending has shocked fans (netflix)

Viewers were shocked by the film and took to social media to talk about the 'crazy' movie and 'wild a** ending'.

"I watched Acrimony on Netflix, my jaw is still on the floor," one user said while another added: "That movie Acrimony on Netflix is one wild ride."

One viewer wrote: "I’m watching Acrimony for the first time and this in insane. How does Tyler Perry come up with these stories."

"Acrimony on Netflix was f**king wild," one said while another posted: "I went from siding with [Melinda] to siding with Robert. This film is crazy, sad on both sides."

A Netflix user added: "Acrimony on Netflix was going okay until the wild a** ending … I don't know how Tyler Perry is allowed to make films."

Filming for the movie took place in Pittsburgh and Atlanta in late 2016 and was released two years later.

Taraji previously revealed she filmed for her role in five days (netflix)

At the time of release, it received generally negative reviews but it looks like Netflix users are enjoying the thriller.

Taraji previously revealed she filmed her role in the movie in only five days due to a busy schedule.

She took to Instagram and said: "I filmed my role in Acrimony in FIVE DAYS in the middle of playing Cookie on @Empire!! Tyler Perry told me I could do it, so of course, I believed him.

"I was soooo afraid I would fail because I had no time to get into character (so I thought)! I learned something new about my instrument on this production.”

“We also had no time for a lot of takes so EVERY scene was about two takes,” she continued. “Maybe three and then it was time to move on!! WOW.”
