Netflix viewers brand latest dating show 'messiest' so far with contestants 'belonging in an asylum'

Netflix's latest dating series has shocked viewers with the unconventional methods it uses to discover if its participating couples are really ready to commit to each other for the rest of their lives.

The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On follows the journey of six couples, where one person in each relationship has issued their partner with an ultimatum to either marry them or move on by the end of the two-month experiment.

The couples are given one week to get to know their fellow participants, at the end of which they must choose a person from one of the other couples to enter into a trial marriage with.

The new pairings share an apartment with their trial husband or wife for three weeks, giving them the opportunity to help each other see if they are ready to commit to their original partners or if there is someone who is more fitted for them elsewhere.

The new couples establish deep bonds, building physical and emotional connections, which leads them to question whether or not they are truly ready for marriage.

However, some viewers of the show were left baffled by the concept as the couples are essentially given a free pass to 'cheat' on their partners while they are participating in their trial marriages before they return to their original partners to complete the same process.

Taking to Twitter, one viewer said the contestant "belong in an insane asylum" as they are "crazy" for wanting to take part in the show.

They said: "Every contestant on the Ultimatum on Netflix belong in an insane asylum. Locked away forever from the rest of society. Absolute crazy people."

Others branded the show as "messy" as the couples went through emotional turmoil as they watched the person they love for connections with someone else.

One commented: "why is the ultimatum the messiest show on Netflix and why do we all hate madelyn".

Another said they were left embarrassed for the series participants as they couldn't fathom the ways they reacted to their partners.

They said: "Me watching The Ultimatum and pausing Netflix every five seconds so I can take a lap around my apartment to run away from the second hand embarrassment".
