Netflix fans are raving about Fake Profile, a Colombian catfishing drama packed full of rampant sex and outrageous plot twists - and a very, very good-looking cast.
The show, which is the second most watched on the platform, tells the story of Las Vegas dancer Camila, who meets a handsome millionaire plastic surgeon called Fernando on Tinder - only to discover he’s not who he says he is.
Netflix ’s synopsis adds that “she'll punish him for every lie he told.”
In the 10-episode series, which was uploaded to the platform on May 31, Camila finds herself caught up in a shady world of money, power and appearances, where everyone has a secret - and a lot of sex.
As well as Camila and ‘Fernando’, there’s a huge ensemble cast, each with their own secrets, vices and agendas, which often overlap in explosive ways.
Viewers have taken to Twitter to share their delight - and in some cases, bemusement - at the fast-paced show and its rollercoaster storyline.
One tweeted: “Fake profile on Netflix is so messy it gets crazier by the episode.”
Others added: “Fake Profile on Netflix is crazy as hell. why is everyone a damn psychopath on this show?” and “I hate watching movies where the voiceover and the mouth movement isn’t synced but fake profile on Netflix has managed to keep me entertained despite the ick.”
Frequent descriptions for the programme, which stars Mexican telenovela star Carolina Miranda, 32, as Camila, include “messy”, “crazy” and “addictive”.
However, not everyone is praying for a second series. One viewer huffed: “A little too much sex. It’d be nice to have more content than cheap porn #fakeprofilenetflix.”
It's the latest big hit for Netflix, following on from Beef, Stranger Things and Selling Sunset.
