As the weather heats up outside, Netflix is serving up plenty of blockbusters to help you beat the heat from the comfort of your couch. I don't know about you, but when I have no clue what to watch, I head straight to the top 10 most-watched movies list. Granted, they aren't all guaranteed to be winners, but it's handy for cutting through the noise quickly.
With that in mind, we're here to help you figure out what to watch by narrowing down the three best movies to watch in the Netflix Top 10 movies list. This list includes a war thriller that audiences love despite its lackluster box office run, the latest installment in a hit horror-comedy franchise, and a hilarious British period comedy.
This article is based on the Netflix top 10 list of most-watched movies in the U.S. as of 8 a.m. ET on Friday, August 2. For even more recommendations on what to watch across the best streaming services, check out everything new on Netflix this month.
'Land of Bad' (2024)
One of this year's biggest box office flops is finding new life on streaming — and it looks like critics were too quick to judge if its 94% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes is anything to go by. While you may not have heard of "Land of Bad" before it crashed into Netflix's top 10 not long ago, it's shaping up to be a war thriller for the ages.
Co-written and directed by William Eubank, the movie follows a U.S. Army Delta Force squad on a mission to retrieve a CIA intelligence asset who has fallen into enemy hands in the Philippines when everything gets FUBAR. With his crew dead and stranded behind enemy lines, rookie Sergeant JJ Kinney (Liam Hemsworth) is forced to rely on the remote guidance of drone pilot Captain Eddie Grimm "Reaper" (Russell Crowe) to make it to the extraction point in one piece.

'Wicked Little Letters' (2024)
"Wicked Little Letters" is for sure the funniest movie of 2024 (so far), and now you can stream it from the comfort of your own home. And with a 92% viewers rating on Rotten Tomatoes, it has already found plenty of fans
This riotously funny comedy is, astonishingly, based on a bizarre true story that rocked the UK last century and made scandalous headlines up and down the country. The movie takes us back in time to the quaint 1920s English seaside town of Littlehampton for a laugh-a-minute romp.
You see, various residents are currently enduring a horrific scandal: someone in town is sending some truly filthy letters to the rest of the residents, and the movie dramatizes the search for the scandalous scribe and, in particular, the war between two next-door neighbors: holier-than-thou Edith Swan (Olivia Colman), and rowdy Irish migrant/everyone's chief suspect, Rose Gooding (Jessie Buckley). - Martin Shore

'Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire' (2024)
A ton of viewers have already joined the Spenglers on their latest adventure, as the latest "Ghostbusters" fluck "Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire" has hopped right to the No. 1 spot on Netflix, and it's stayed pretty close to the top since it's streaming debut.
"Frozen Empire" follows the entire family back to the iconic firehouse back in New York City where it all began for a new caper that sees them taking on a powerful new supernatural threat.
This time around, they face the supernatural might of Garraka, a supernatural being who wishes to regain their power and wreak havoc on the world with the "Death Chill", the power to kill with fear itself. To stop this new spectral foe, they have to team with the original Ghostbusters and wield every ounce of their power to trap the escaped evil entity all over again.
