Netflix to release new Black Mirror series this week - when to watch and how many episodes

Hit sci-fi series Black Mirror is making a comeback this month with a brand new series - and fans won't have to wait long at all. The sixth season of the dystopian future-themed series is due to land on Netflix this week, with the streaming service promising the new season to be its most "unpredictable" yet.

It will be the first time in four years that the show will be returning to screens. Ever since it launched back in 2011, Black Mirror has left viewers on the edge of their seats with its stark and often disturbing portrayal of how technology could impact humans in the future.

Each episode follows a different story - and often a different genre - as viewers are given a glimpse of how our lives could look in years to come. The show began on Channel 4 and has since moved to Netflix.

Various stars have featured in the popular series, including the likes of Rory Kinnear, Jodie Whittaker, Andrew Scott and Hayley Atwell. Ahead of series six release, creator Charlie Brooker revealed that he hopes it will be completely different to any season before.

He also admitted to even trying to get an AI to write an episode. In an interview with the streaming platform’s editorial platform Tudum , he said: "It should be a series that can't be easily defined, and can keep reinventing itself.

"Partly as a challenge, and partly to keep things fresh for both me and the viewer, I began this season by deliberately upending some of my own core assumptions about what to expect."
