Netflix's Wednesday: I may have only watched half the series but I'm hooked

Netflix released the eight-part series last week with Jenna Ortega starring as main character Wednesday Addams. With questions and mysteries starting from the first episode, viewers can expect twists and turns throughout.

With cast members including Christina Ricci, who played Wednesday in the original 1991 film and its sequel in 1993, returning to the Addams world as a dorm mistress at Nevermore Academy, the acting is not short of magnificent.

The story follows Wednesday as she navigates her way through her new school for outcasts as she learns of the history between her family and Jericho. Watch as Wednesday tries to figure out what’s her role in the coming events and attempts to uncover the mysterious monster in the forest.

Viewers will be able to see all sides of the Addams family character, from her determination to not be like her parents to possible love interests along the way. Despite her lone-wolf persona we will see Wednesday make a few unlikely friends - or as she would call them associates - during her first few weeks at the boarding school.

I may have only watched the first half of the series but I am hooked. The supernatural world and characters keep you wondering what is going to happen next. This is definitely a binge-worthy show.

What the writers have managed to do is take an old Halloween classic and create a 21st century show that will attract a younger audience to the world of the Addams family. They have also created a back history between the characters of old and those new to the scene.

The relationship between the two old school chums Morticia and Principal Weems seems all happy and cheerful to start before the cracks start to show - were they actually friends? And then there’s Xavier and Wednesday herself, two old acquaintances from the past meeting again at Wednesday’s new school.

The chemistry between characters is tested as Wednesday begins to make her mark on the school - and choose her suspects. It is not yet known if there is a plan to create a storyline for a second season but I can say considering the fan reaction this past week has made this series a huge success.
