Netflix's The Last Bus: The rising star cast who have been in everything from Game of Thrones to KFC adverts

Brand new eco-fable series The Last Bus is arriving on Netflix tomorrow (April 1). Produced by award-winning Bristol company Wildseed Studios and filmed on location in Bristol and across the South West, the ten-part sci-fi series is highly-anticipated and even broke green screen boundaries during filming.

Filmed in 2020, The Last Bus' biggest names include Robert Sheehan, of Misfits and Umbrella Academy fame, and Tom Basden, who has starred in After Life and Plebs. Alongside these established names, a cohort of fresh, young actors will be starring in the series, which follows a mismatched group of students on a school trip who become unlikely heroes when a robot apocalypse zaps away the rest of humanity.

The Last Bus was filmed across Bristol at The Bottle Yard Studios, Redcliffe Caves and The Downs, alongside other locations across the South West. As for the rising stars that will be helping save the world from robots, here's where you might recognise them from.

Lauryn Ajufo

21-year-old Lauryn Ajufo is best known for her role as Andrea in Boiling Point, a one-take improvisation film which was loosely based on the time director Philip Barantini spent working as a chef and covers issues such as self-harm, addiction and racism. Ajufo showcased her incredible acting skills in the film, which saw her and her fellow actors working off a script with no dialogue, just stage directions.

Ajufo's performance saw her scoop a nomination for Breakthrough Performance at the British Independent Film Awards in 2021. Her other credits include Villain, Holby City, and post-production projects Tell Me Everything and Accused.

Moosa Mostafa

Mostafa is only young, but already has some pretty big titles under his belt. Fans of the Nativity! series of films may recognise Mostafa from the fourth instalment 'Nativity Rocks!', in which he played a St Bernadette's Primary School pupil, starring alongside Craig Revel Horwood, Hugh Dennis and Ruth Jones.

The Last Bus is not Mostafa's only Netflix production. The rising star plays Eugene Otinger in Tim Burton's Wednesday, filming for which has wrapped up.

Marlie Morrelle and Phoebe De Silva

Both Morrelle and Bristol-based De Silva are complete newcomers, with their roles in The Last Bus being their first ever. They were scouted out for The Last Bus during a school search of thousands of young people looking for their first acting role.

Curtis Kantsa

Curtis Kantsa appeared in acclaimed crime drama Blue Story in 2019, in which he played the role of Tiny Madder. Kantsa also appeared in a KFC advert in 2020.

Carys John

Also due to appear on our screens in The Last Bus is Carys John. John has starred in several TV series, including children's TV programme 4 O'Clock Club as Coco, which aired on CBBC.

John starred in BAFTA Cymru-nominated Welsh series Love Me, which documented the struggles of a sleepy seaside village as it ran out of women. She also appeared in Parch, another Welsh comedy drama, as Julia.

Nathanael Saleh

Worcestershire native Nathanael Saleh began performing on stage when he was just five years old. In the ten years that have followed, Saleh, now 15, has appeared in hit TV shows and films, having been cast as Arthur in two episodes of Game of Thrones' sixth season, and John Banks in Mary Poppins Returns.

In addition to these roles, you can spot Saleh in upcoming TV series Dangerous Liaisons, The Letter for the King, and Days of the Bagnold Summer. Saleh also lent his voice to the soundtrack of Mary Poppins Returns, with credits on seven songs from the film.

Daniel Frogson

19-year-old Daniel Frogson plays Tom in The Last Bus, his first Netflix production. Television fans may recognise him from His Dark Materials, in which he played the role of Tony Costa.

The Nottingham native's first role on-screen was in Joe All Alone, a TV mini-series which aired back in 2018, and followed the story of a 13-year-old boy left at home alone when his mother and her boyfriend go away for a week. In the same year, Frogson starred in The Devil Outside, a drama film about an evangelical Christian teenager who begins to question his beliefs.

Lara McDonnell

Irish actress Lara McDonnell's biggest role yet came just a few months ago with the release of Belfast, which she starred in as Moira alongside Jamie Dornan, Dame Judi Dench and Caitriona Balfe. Back in 2014, the now 18-year-old appeared in Love, Rosie, as a younger version of the main character.
