The worlds of YouTube and anime are set to collide as a new show starring influencer IShowSpeed has been announced. He's best known for his viral live streams and is widely considered to be one of the most popular streamers online, with more than 52 million subscribers to his YouTube account.
He'll be working with Netflix's One Piece co-showrunner Matt Owens on the project, which has been described as "anime-style", per Variety. Owens left the show last year to focus on his mental health, sharing a statement with fans at the time.
Details about what the IShowSpeed show will be about haven't been released yet but it's expected it will center around the YouTuber as an animated character.
"I've always loved anime, so being able to create something like this is a dream come true for me," IShowSpeed (real name Darren Jason Watkins Jr.) said of the project. "The team behind this project is incredibly talented, and I can't wait for my fans around the world to see what we're building together."
Former Paramount Global CEO Brian Robbins is behind the series under his new production company Big Shot Pictures. He also teased a bit about what to expect, saying they "bring his voice and vision to life in a completely new way through this series."
