Netflix's '3 Body Problem' is a new series that adapts Liu Cixin's 'Remembrance of Earth's Past' trilogy, with a unique approach that shifts its primary focus away from China. The show, which premiered on Netflix, features a significant amount of dialogue in Mandarin Chinese in its first two episodes. Showrunners David Benioff, D.B. Weiss, and Alexander Woo are at the helm of this adaptation.
While the series retains some elements from Liu's original novels, such as flashbacks to China during the Cultural Revolution, it introduces a global cast centered in the United Kingdom. The first two episodes, directed by Hong Kong filmmaker Derek Tsang, delve into the backstory of astrophysicist Ye Wenjie in 1960s China.
