Shortly after leaving Prime Video, "Zombieland" made its way to Netflix, and it's an absolute must-watch film for anyone who enjoys horror or comedy. The movie just arrived on the beloved streaming platform, and I couldn't be happier. It's one of those movies I go back to every year or so just to remind myself of how great it is.
The movie offers a star-studded cast led by rule-follower Jesse Eisenberg as Columbus. The other main characters are played by Woody Harrelson, Emma Stone and Abigail Breslin. And there are plenty of cameos to enjoy from actors like Bull Burray, Amber Heard, Luke Wilson and more.
If you enjoy excessive violence against the undead in the name of entertainment, a dash of romance and a tale of entertainment, "Zombieland" is the movie from the recent Netflix new releases you need to see.
What is 'Zombieland' about?
"Zombieland" follows Jesse Eisenberg (Columbus), Woody Harrelson (Tallahassee), Emma Stone (Wichita) and Abigail Breslin (Little Rock) as they navigate to the supposed safety of the Pacific Playland amusement park in Los Angeles while battling a strain of mad cow disease that mutated to turn humans into zombies.
Unlike most zombie movies, where the characters live in abject fear of the walking dead, the "Zombieland" crew enjoys killing zombies in the most ridiculous possible ways. Sure, there's an element of danger that gives the film its horror elements, but in the end, the crew mostly has the upper hand.
The drama in the film mostly comes from the human element — Wichita and Little Rock's con-artist past, Columbus's obsessive rules and Tallahassee's unending quest for a Twinkie.
Should you stream ‘Zombieland’ on Netflix?
I think my overall tone here suggests you should absolutely stream "Zombieland" now that it's on Netflix. But the reality is, I enjoy a good plot twist as much as any movie fan.
Just kidding, there's no twist here.
I love this movie, and I think just about anyone out there will enjoy it (assuming you're not too squeamish about zombies being blown apart with various forms of weaponry). It's rated R, so it might not be a movie you want to watch with your children, but for everyone of age and maturity levels, "Zombieland" is near-perfect at executing what it sets out to do.
While some movies hit Netflix and are good but forgettable, you'll never forget your time with Eisenberg and company. You might even need to double-tap the movie and watch it again, as it's that entertaining. And before you take a bathroom break between viewings, be wary.
