Netflix fans say 'finally' as popular show renewed for two seasons

Fans have breathed a sigh of relief after Netflix 'finally' announced a popular series has been renewed for another two seasons.

Ginny and Georgia, which follows the Miller family as they start over in an affluent American town, is to return for seasons three and four. The second series of the comedy drama - which topped Netflix's English TV List for four weeks in a row - dropped in January.

Fans had been left scratching their heads ever since, wondering if the show was coming back. In a tweet on Wednesday (May 17), Netflix cleared it up. The streaming service shared a video with the caption: "Ginny & Georgia has been renewed for Season 3 — and Season 4!"

In the 48-second clip, cast members break the good news and question what might come next for their characters.

Antonia Gentry stars as 15-year-old Ginny, while Brianne Howey is 30-year-old mum Georgia, as the characters navigate a new life and their turbulent relationship. Georgia's little brother, Austin, is played by Diesel La Torraca.

Show creator Sarah Lampert previously told website Netflix Tudum that she has the story 'all planned out' following a shocking season two finale, which saw one character taken away in the back of a police car.

She added that the third season will throw 'new hurdles, new relationships and new challenges' at Ginny and Georgia 'in a way we haven’t seen before on the show.' The official season three and four release dates are yet to be confirmed.

Fans took to Twitter to share their excitement, with many questioning what took them so long to announce more seasons.

@rxmlx tweeted: "OH MY GODD??? FINALLY. FINALLYYYY" while @ftnsnuffy enthused: "Finally ginny and georgia announce new seasons. Yayyy". @spelivqs said: "literally don't know what took so long but we here" and @velvctrl added: "they called us crazy. they was called us delusional. they said they were getting cancelled. said the show deserved to get cancelled. yet here we are!"

@obxbellarke asked: "After months and months they finally announced the Ginny and Georgia renewal. Why did it take them this long??" while @RayAblack cheered: "Couldn’t be more excited about this". @shourtneycayne added: "let’s goooooo" and @averyjcmesons said: "I thought we were done but instead I got a double renewal let's hear it for Ginny and Georgia nation.'
