Netflix fans react as first trailer for new Harry and Meghan series Live to Lead drops

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle 's next Netflix project has been teased.

The couple's recent docu-series recalling their decision to quit life as working royals and the fallout that followed is still making waves on social media, with many still stunned made by revelations made throughout the six-part special.

But their next outing on the streaming platform will focus on other people's stories.

The former Royal couple front the series Live to Lead that takes a look at influential leaders throughout history and how they changed the world.

"This was inspired by Nelson Mandela," Harry can be heard saying in the first official trailer for the upcoming series.

The dad-of-two goes on to quote the late South African president, saying: "What counts in life is not the mere fact that we’ve lived…"

Meghan then appears on screen to finish the quote with: "It is what difference we have made to the lives of others that will determine the significance of the life we lead."

"It’s about people who have made brave choices…" Harry adds in the teaser for the series set to air at the end of the month.

Meghan takes over to say, "To fight for change and to become leaders…" as Harry concludes with: "And for giving inspiration to the rest of us, to live, to lead."

Throughout the trailer shared on social media earlier today, clips of the late Ruth Bader Ginsburg speaking to camera are shown, in addition to snippets of one of Swedish Greta Thunberg's speeches and New Zealand Jacinda Ardern speaking at a press conference.

Other interviews in the series include South Africa’s national rugby union team captain and social inequality campaigner Siya Kolisi, feminist activist Gloria Steinem, and anti-apartheid activist and former Justice of the Constitutional Court of South Africa Albie Sachs.

Sharing the trailer to Twitter today, Netflix captioned the teaser: "Their voices give us hope. Their actions shape our world. Their leadership inspires our future.

Social media users were quick to react to the news we will see more of from the couple on Netflix before the end of the year.

One fan looking forward to watching the series tweeted: "HarryandMeghanNetflix, “If we are going to have this glaring microscope on us at all times; If people are looking at us, then look at what we’re looking at …” Extraordinary! #LiveToLead."

"Content with value, I'm here for it," another future viewer added, as a third tweeted: "I just want #HarryandMeghan to win in this life."

However, not all Twitter users were excited by the trailer – with one even declaring: "Dear God, Netflix is becoming unwatchable."

Another poked fun at how much Meghan and Harry reportedly got paid for their Netflix partnership, captioning the trailer for Live to Lead: "We paid $100 million, we'll milk every single drop out of it!"

Harry and former Suits actress Meghan produced the series alongside Ben Browning and Chanel Pysnik for Archewell with Geoff Blackwell Ruth Hobday producing for Blackwell & Ruth and John Sloss for Cinetic.

Live to Lead came about when Blackwell, director of the series, thought of an idea while working on a book about Mandela with Hobday in 2018.

Blackwell previously said in a statement: "As we worked to absorb 27 years of Mandela’s personal correspondence, reflecting on his brave and selfless commitment to the welfare of others, we were simultaneously confronted by a news cycle relentlessly focused on certain international politicians behaving in precisely the opposite way— shamelessly pursuing their own self-interest, using tactics of division and misinformation to serve power and not the people.

"This contrast cemented our resolve to honor Mandela’s values by surfacing the stories of leaders who distinguish themselves through their moral courage, the conviction of their ideals and values, and their prioritization of others.

"We have been Mandela’s publisher for over a decade and we are fortunate to have a close relationship with the Nelson Mandela Foundation.

"When we approached them, they warmly agreed to join us in seeking out these inspiring individuals and asking them to agree to be interviewed.

"The experience of interviewing them and sharing their stories has been an enriching one for all of us.

"Through their example, these leaders remind us of our own capacity for leadership and the best part of our humanity at a moment when the world needs true leaders, more than ever."

*Live To Lead premieres on Netflix on December 31 2022
