Fans of the latest Netflix show to be cancelled after one season have shared that they are 'gutted.'
The creator of adult animation series Inside Job confirmed that the second series had been cancelled by the streaming giant on Monday (January 9). The show, which premiered in October 2021, was renewed for season two in June 2022.
The sci-fi animation sit com is set in a world where conspiracy theories are real and follows a team of workers at Cognito, Inc., one of six organisations that control the world. The show's creator, Shion Takeuchi shared a statement on Twitter, writing: "I'm heartbroken to confirm that Netflix has decided to cancel season 2 of Inside Job. Over the years, these characters have become real people to me and I am devastated not to be able to watch them grow up.
"Reagan and Brett deserved to get their ending and finally find happiness. And I would have loved to been able to share what was in store with you all.
"To everyone who watched, thank you for coming along on the ride. Even though I'm sad, it helps to know that there's people out there who cared just as much about these characters as me."
Fans took to Twitter to share their devastation over the cancellation, with many upset a cliffhanger that will never be resolved. @TheBlackHylian said: "I'm still gutted about Inside Job getting canceled. Like... why?! That show actually kicks ass. This is a travesty" while @FlightRed50 added: "NOOOOO. Gutted to hear this, Inside Job is an absolutely phenomenal series, I was so excited to see where it would go!!!"
@bigandblueshark said: "gutted about inside job being cancelled, on a massive cliffhanger as well smh" while @AwestruckVox demanded: "I think @netflix should at least give Inside Job an ending so viewers aren't left on a cliffhanger. There's clearly a strong audience that kept up with the series. It was in Netflix's Top 10 whenever new episodes dropped. Finish the story."
@lumberzacks vented: "ok sorry I keep blabbing but like I’m BEYOND p***ed right now. Inside Job was confirmed a season 2. WE WERE SUPPOSED TO GET A PROPER ENDING!! Now we’re just left on a cliffhanger because Netflix decided to go back on their decision" and @yes_suree added: "Inside Job was the only adult animated cartoon I really kept up with and looked forward to- beyond disappointed it’s been thrown away. Inside Job has become the latest Netflix show to be axed after just one series, following the cancellation of mystery drama 1899 last week.
