Netflix fans 'can't wait' as pop star announces acting debut in new film

Netflix fans have shared their excitement after it announced a pop star would be making her acting debut next year.

Swedish singer Zara Larsson, 25, will be starring in new film A Part of You, launching on the streaming service in 2024. Swedish actors Edvin Ryding and Felicia Maxime will also co-star.

In a tweet, Netflix said: "Zara Larsson will make her acting debut alongside Young Royals co-stars Edvin Ryding and Felicia Maxime in A Part of You, a new movie that portrays the experience of being 17 years old and feeling like your heart is about to burst from your chest. Coming 2024."

The official description of the film reads: "Agnes' (Felicia Maxime) older sister Julia (Zara Larsson) possesses everything that Agnes dreams of: she's the coolest person in school, the centre of every party, and she’s dating Noel (Edvin Ryding). If only Agnes could be more like her.

"When the worst possible thing occurs, Agnes' world is turned upside down and she’s forced to reinvent herself. Suddenly, she's on the verge of obtaining everything she's ever desired, but at what cost?"

Zara, from Solna, near Stockholm, has had a string of top 10 UK hits, including Lush Life, Never Forget You and Symphony with Clean Bandit, which scored her a number one. The star found fame when she won the Swedish talent competition Talang at just 10 years old.

Meanwhile, both Edvin and Maxime are already popular with Netflix fans, having roles on the Swedish drama series Young Royals. Edvin stars as Prince Wilhelm, who pursues a relationship with his male classmate Simon, but does not label his sexuality. Maxime plays the more minor role of Stella in the TV series. The pair also appeared in 2022 disaster film The Abyss.

Sharing the news on Twitter, Edvin tweeted: "UNBELIEVABLY excited for this. Can’t wait for you to see it," while Maxmine added a red heart emoji and said: "I AM SO EXCITED".

Fans took to social media to share their delight at the news. Many were already hyped up to see Zara make her acting debut, while others were excited to see the Swedish actors work together.
