Fans of Netflix drama Stranger Things were furious when the entire streaming site crashed minutes after the release of the final two episodes of season 4.
The unscheduled Netflix outage occurred minutes after the episode drop which had been scheduled for 8am this morning (Friday) UK time.
And super fans of the hit sci-fi drama i n the US had even stayed up into the early hours from midnight to watch the release but were instead left letdown with a message reading 'this page isn't working,' and instructing others to: 'please try again later'.
The temporary shutdown left fans who were waiting to see what happens to the inhabitants of Hawkins waiting longer as they instead vented on Twitter.
One fan fumed: 'I did not just count down the seconds like it’s New Years for Netflix to crash #StrangerThings.'
'Netflix crash? Please let me watch Stranger Things or I'll cry,' begged another subscriber, with someone else tweeting: 'The power of the stranger things fandom to literally crash netflix... unparalleled.'
According to DownDetector, the streaming service crashed between 2am and 5am in the UK with problems will ongoing.
Season 4 is being released in two drops, the first was five weeks ago, and the second across two much longer episodes, scheduled for today, July 1.
The eighth episode will run one hour and 25 minutes while the ninth episode will run nearly two and a half hours.
And Shawn Levy, the show’s director, teased after the first drop there’s still lots more to come.
“I’ll just tell you, as great as volume 1 is, volume 2 is extraordinary,” he told Entertainment Weekly .
As volume one of season four ended, fans learned that the Upside Down and Vecna were the aftermath of a huge fight between the psychokinetic powers of Campbell Bower's pre-Vecna character and Millie Bobby Brown's Eleven.
The mind-bending finale of Season 4 part 1 revealed that Vecna's true identity was Henry Creel aka Number One, shocking viewers.
Jamie Campbell Bower, who plays the terrifying creature, spent seven hours a day having make-up applied but said it was an 'absolute honour' to work with Barrie Gower, who created the show's creature prosthetics.
