Movie set vehicles and a host of favourite film characters will be bringing the action to Newcastle this autumn in an event which will also offer visitors the chance to play retro arcade machines for free.
The Nerd Fright Fest will be making a comeback to The Boiler Shop in October with an array of eye-catching guests and attractions. Among them will be a Ghostbusters ecto-1 car - the Ectomobile which featured in the whole film franchise - and a Jurassic Park jeep plus a Gremlins movie set.
The event, which is out to raise money for Cash for Kids which supports disadvantaged children in the North East, will also include Ghostbusters and Star Wars characters alongside Iron Man and Batman in its movie theme mash-up and there will be gaming tournaments and cosplay competitions too for those who want to enter into the spirit of the occasion.

The Nerd Fright Fest is run by The North East Retro Den which celebrates everything retro, from video games to art and clothing, and which Michael Henderson helped set up. He also runs the Nerd Arcade shop in Felling, Gateshead, with pal Michael Coxon and both are long-term supporters of Cash for Kids.
The Nerd Fright Fest will take place at The Boiler Shop in Newcastle on October 9 from 10am until 4pm. A dedicated games room will be set up there with both new and old consoles and retro arcade machines which will all be free for visitors to play.
They also will be able to browse a range of stalls where more than 40 traders will be selling all sorts of geeky and spooky merchandise. Viz favourite Simon Donald will be taking part too and will be drawing his popular characters for the public.
Tickets for Nerd Fright Fest cost £10; £8 for under-12s and free for under-fives. They are available at Eventbrite - see here - and also will be available from the door on the day.
