Another spate of flash flooding in Nepal has sparked new worries about the Himalayan country's increasing susceptibility and the dangers to portions of India downstream. In the Gorkha district of Nepal, a landslip obstructed the Budhi Gandaki River on October 11. Water damaged homes, bridges, power infrastructure, and a hydropower building site when it surged downstream after breaching the temporary natural barrier.
This occurs more than a month after a catastrophic flood that occurred in late August as a result of a large ice-and-rock collapse close to the border between China and Nepal, which caused a disastrous surge through Himalayan river basins. These incidents have raised concerns about why Nepal frequently experiences unexpected floods and whether the country's topography.
