Two climbers have died while as many as 12 others have been injured following a huge avalanche on a mountain, it has been reported.
The avalanche happened around 11.30am on Monday leaving at least two people dead on Mount Manaslu in the Nepalese Himalayas.
Climbers who were waiting at the base camp for weather to clear said the slip had happened between Camps III and IV, while hundreds of climbers were heading up to the summit.
Lakpa Sherpa of 8K Expeditions told the Everest Chronicle that it wasn't yet clear how many people had been injured.
"Several teams are mobilised for search and rescue operation,” they said.
“I heard that one died in the avalanche. And also that one collapsed at the summit."
Aerial searches by SImrik Air, Kailash Air and Heli Everest were being conducted in the area.
However, search and rescue efforts had reportedly been hampered by the bad weather.
Sherpa climbers from Seven Summit Treks, Satori Adventure, Imagine Nepal Treks, Elite Expedition, and 8K Expeditions are among the injured.
Satori Adventure’s Rishi Bhandari revealed that three from his expedition were injured with one in a critical condition.
Thaneshwor Guragain from Seven Summit Treks said three climbers injured from his company were being airlifted to Kathmandu for treatment.
Pemba Sherpa from 8K Expedition said Indian climber Baljeet Kaur and her Sherpa guide both suffered minor injuries and they were safe at the moment.
