Nelly Furtado has stepped out on the red carpet for the first time in years – and she looks unrecognisable.
The 43-year-old Canadian singer made a re-entrance into public life 23 years after her debut smash hit, and she looked utterly stunning.
I'm Like a Bird songstress Nelly - who has one daughter, Nevis, 18, – made sure all eyes were on her as she defied her years in a fitted black cut-out dress.
She wore her glossy brunette lock in glamourous waves as she strutted her stuff on the red carpet at the Lido TV premiere during the 2022 Toronto International Film Festival.
The floor-length one-shoulder dress featured a sultry thigh high split with showed a glimpse of her toned thighs and a cut-out detail across her ribs showed off a slither of her abs.
Nelly accessorised with simple gold jewellery and white nail varnish and had a face of glam make-up on for her outing.
Nelly has been living largely out of the spotlight in recent years.
She appeared on Loose Women back in 2017 when she was releasing her The Ride album to talk about stepping back.
At the time, she revealed she had split from her husband of nine years, Demacio Castellon, and was single.
Nelly married sound engineer Demacio Castellon in 2008.
Appearing on the ITV show, she said: “I’m single now. Someone needs to update my Wikipedia, it’s not helping my dating life.”
She also admitted she almost burned out while trying to juggle work and family life when she was at the pinnacle of her career.
“At the height of my career, it was super exciting – but I took too much on. A mother on the road trying to maintain a relationship; I cried on stage.”
The star admits it’s important to find the right balance, adding to the panel: “Sometimes you just want to sit home and bake muffins for your daughter, clean my toilet, having a moment to yourself.”
She continued: “It’s great to have your career take off and have those blessings, but if you don’t have that time, when you give and give you crash.”
“I need to stay emotionally and physically well for my daughter.”
And that’s what the singer eventually did, telling Refinery29: “I didn’t quit music, but I quit juggling. I thought, ‘I’m going to clean my own toilet and wash my own underwear!’”
Nelly found fame in the millennium year with her tracks I’m Like a Bird and Turn Off The Light.
Born in Canada to Portuguese parents, Nelly hit the big time in 2006 with her chart-topping album Loose which sold more than 12million copies worldwide.
She welcomed her daughter Nevis with her then-boyfriend Jasper Gahunia in 2003 before splitting two years later but remaining close friends and co-parents.
