Where is Nell from?
Nell is originally from Maynooth in County Kildare.
She was born to mum Dearbhla, a Garda officer, and Paul, a schoolteacher who acted semi-professionally.
She is one of three children, with two brothers, including eldest sibling Paul.
Where does Nell live?
After deciding to drop out of school in Maynooth in October 2021, Nell took her chances and emigrated. She left for London and has been living there for 15 months.
The singer has accomplished a lot within that time, including signing a management deal with American firm Q Prime. This company also manages massive artists like Metallica, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Josh Groban and Snow Patrol.
Nell also signed to Manchester indie label LAB Records.
How does Paul feel about Nell’s music?
Nell shared that her brother has been incredibly supportive of her music career.
She made her debut as a professional artist at Shoreditch House in 2021, as the supporting act to Phoebe Bridgers, an American singer romantically connected to her brother.
Nell explained that when she took to the stage her two brothers were very stressed. When she began singing, they both burst into tears.
The Kildare native opened up about being asked to support Phoebe. She noted that she felt nervous as she didn’t know if she had been chosen because of her talent or because she was related to Paul.
Nell asked Phoebe to be honest with her about whether her music was why she was picked.
She called the moment affirming when she was reassured it was her talent that got her the gig.
Why did Nell pursue music?
Nell has opened up about how important music is to her. She explained that she knew she wanted to sing, but didn’t initially consider it a real job.
However, after undergoing major, life-changing back surgery due to her scoliosis diagnosis, she was out of commission for months.
During that time, she began recording music on her phone and piano.
