Neil McCann identifies Rangers transfer priority that won't come cheap as he senses summer signing 'issue'

Neil McCann reckons Rangers have to go after a new striker this window - but a left-back may come into their thinking too.

The Light Blues are closing in on a deal for Norwich City playmaker Todd Cantwell while they are also chasing Standard Liege midfielder Nicolas Raskin and Swansea City winger Morgan Whittaker. Ibrox favouritie McCann says a number nine is a neccesity amid injury problems to Antonio Colak and Kemar Roofe, while Alfredo Morelos' future in light blue is unknown.

An attacking midfielder is on the former winger's checklist for manager Michael Beale and he also tells Sportsound that with Ridvan Yilmaz's impact at left-back since arriving from Besiktas proving minimal, that is an area of the park in need of an upgrade. McCann explained: "I think he should be looking at a number nine. This debate about whether he keeps Morelos will rumble on and I know Fashion Sakala has got closer to being like a nine at times. Another attacking midfielder, Scott Arfield continues to come up trumps at times and he is a go-to man for if they need something beyond the striker.
