Neil McCann gives Rangers hairdryer treatment to Alfredo Morelos after striker accused of Pittodrie laziness

Neil McCann has branded Alfredo Morelos 'lazy' for allowing Liam Scales to win the ball in the lead up to Aberdeen's first goal.

The former Rangers and Hearts winger took aim at the Colombian striker after the Dons defender nipped in ahead of him before launching a 40-yard screamer to put Barry Robson's side 1-0 at Pittodrie. Gers captain James Tavernier played a ball up to Morelos but the striker was flat-footed and Scales was able to get in front of him.

Michael Beale's side had the best of a goalless first half but three minutes after the restart Scales beat Gers keeper Allan McGregor from wide on the left for his first goal since signing on loan from Celtic last summer. Bojan Miovski headed in a second in the 56th minute to help the Granite City side to their first league home win over Rangers since September 2016. The Ibrox side are now 13 points behind Celtic at the top of the Scottish Premiership with just five games to go.

The Dons are five points in front of fourth placed Hearts with a likely trip to Tynecastle to look forward to. However, its was McCann who took aim at Morelos after his poor display today.

McCann told Sportscene: "Jonny Hayes makes it difficult for Tavernier. Scales knows Morelos isn't going to run him in the channels so he can afford to be really aggressive and go and press him.

"Morelos should be holding that up, it's lazy from him, waiting on it. Scales it right on top of him and sometimes you deserve a wee bit of luck."
