Neighbours have spoken of their shock after a two babies and 63-year-old man were taken to hospital after being hit by a car in Whitley Bay.
Northumbria Police were called to a report of a collision on Park Avenue at around 10.50am on Thursday, where it was reported that a black Kia Rio had crashed into a man and a pram.
The 63-year-old was taken to Newcastle's Royal Victoria Infirmary with serious injuries, which are not believed to be life threatening.

And two children - a one-year-old and a two-year-old - were taken to Cramlington hospital with minor injuries. The driver remained at the scene and is helping the police.
Today residents told of their concerns following the collision and said their thoughts go out to those involved.
One resident, who asked not to be named, said: "I haven't stopped thinking about those poor children and the gentleman all day. I just hope they're all okay."
She added: "It's a shock for the rest of the community too. It's a busy area and there's a school not far from here so it really hits home how easily accidents like that can happen."
Sarah Hartford, who was visiting Park View Shopping Centre when the incident occurred, also spoke of her shock.
The 37-year-old mum-of-two said: "I came out of the shops and noticed there was a lot of police around and the road had been closed off.
"I overheard someone say a man with a baby had been hit by a car. It's such a busy road round here for both traffic and pedestrians and even though there's traffic lights I still think it's a dangerous road.
"Cars can come round the corners quite fast and you can't always see the cars approaching when you cross."
She added: "My thoughts go out to those involved and I hope they're all okay. I've been quite shaken up from it and I didn't even see it happen so I hope anyone who did witness it is alright too because it must have been a shock."
A North East Ambulance Service spokesperson confirmed that a number of resources, including a specialist paramedic, an officer and emergency ambulance crews attended the scene alongside police officers.
However, residents who spoke to ChronicleLive today said the incident had been cleared before they became aware of what had happened.
One resident said: "I came out of the house this morning to nip over to the shop and when I opened the door I saw a lot of police cars parked up and down this road.
"That was the first I knew about the incident. I didn't hear any commotion or sirens so I got a bit of a shock when I opened the door.
"I asked someone on the street what had happened and they said they thought someone had been hit by a car.
"I really hope everyone is okay."
Another said: "I didn't know anything had happened until I looked out of the window and saw police cars blocking off the road.
"I assumed that the storms might have caused some damage to one of the buildings but I couldn't see anything. It wasn't until I read it online that I realised what had happened."
