Neighbours have 'no problem' with 360 more homes being added to Nottinghamshire development

Neighbours have spoken out about having “no complaints” with plans for more houses being built on the Teal Close development. A proposal for 360 properties to be added to the Rivendell Development has been submitted, with 220 homes have already been built.

In total, 807 homes are eventually planned on the site which is situated off Colwick Loop Road, between Netherfield and Stoke Bardolph.

Resident Kate Holis, 42 has “no complaints” about more houses being built. Kate, who works in finance, said: “This is such a nice area and if there’s space for more houses that won’t affect the one’s already built, why not?

“Whether you know people or not, they’re so friendly around here and this is such an ideal location to live in. I have no complaints about more houses being built, this is a growing community.”

As well as the 220 homes already built, a primary school and a care home are also now in operation at the site. Rivendell Flying High Academy opened this September.

Kate continued: “There’s an Aldi in the area and the Netherfield retail park isn’t too far either, I don’t have children but I know there’s a lot of families in the area so the school down the road will be handy for many.”

local resident Nicola Reast, 31, also likes the area. She said: “We love it here, we’re very happy. I don’t have a problem with more houses being built, I think the area is great for kids and have seen a lot of young families.”

Nicola continued: “I think we could do with a leisure centre or an indoor play area but more houses wouldn’t affect us. We have everything here, there’s the Aldi and the Birds bakery.”

The potential impact on the adjoining ecology park and nearby Local Nature Reserve will need to be considered as part of the development, according to planning documents. .

Retired local resident Jane Conningway, 65, spoke about what living on the Rivendell estate is like. She said: “Living here is lovely. When I’m on my walks, I wave to the builders, people seem friendly enough and I’ve had no problems.

“The Aldi and bakery being here is convenient and the retail park is minutes away. More houses being built don’t bother me so long as it stays lovely and quiet like it is now."
