Neighbours of a housefire that killed a child in Ashford desperately tried to put out the blaze but were “beaten back” by the flames.

The fire engulfed the semi-detached home in Kent just after midday on Sunday, in an incident which killed one child, and sent another child and an adult to the hospital.
