The revival of beloved soap opera Neighbours is set to begin filming next month, it's now been announced.
The show - which follows the lives of residents in the fictional suburb of Erinsborough in Australia - seemingly came to an end last year after having been on air since 1985.
It was later confirmed that it would return for a new series though - set to be released through Amazon Freevee - and a number of cast members are set to reprise their roles.
Among the cast returning are Alan Fletcher (who played Karl Kennedy), Jackie Woodburne (Susan Kennedy), Stefan Dennis (Paul Robinson) and Annie Jones (Jane Harris).
It's now been announced that the revival will start filming next month, with the news said to have been shared by such cast members whilst on a tour in the UK this month.
The Press Association (PA) reports that cast members told the audience on the Neighbours - The Celebration Tour at the London Palladium that production begins in April.
The new series - which is due to air later this year - is set to be filmed a Nunawading Studios in Melbourne, which is where the original series was previously filmed.
Jason Herbison - an executive producer on Neighbours since 2013 - said: "It feels very real now. It's a hive of activity at the studio. We're busy writing the next chapter."
He further commented about the new series: "It's exciting to see the sets being prepped, ready to start filming on April 17 which will be a huge day for everyone involved".
Other actors set to reprise their roles include Ryan Moloney (Jarrod 'Toadie' Rebecchi), Tim Kano (Leo Tanaka). Georgie Stone (Mackenzie Hargreaves) and Rebekah Elmaloglou (Terese Willis).
And it's been announced that there will be guest appearances by the likes of Ian Smith (Harold Bishop), April Rose Pengilly (Chloe Brennan) and Melissa Bell (Lucy Robinson).
It was announced last year that Neighbours had been dropped by Channel 5, with the broadcaster saying it was instead focused on "increasing [its] investment in original UK drama".
It was later announced that the show would cease production, with it stated at the time that "alternative funding" had not been found and a finale subsequently aired in July.
Just months later, it was revealed that Neighbours would return for a new series on Amazon Freevee. The "revitalised" series will be produced by Fremantle like the original show.
The new series will premiere for free on streaming service Amazon Freevee in the UK and the US in autumn 2023. It's set to be available on Prime Video in some other countries.
