The cast of Neighbours stepped out in London for a special launch event days before the new series of the saved soap debuts.
The Australian soap, which ran for almost four decades, was dropped by Channel 5 last year after it failed to secure funding to continue production. The finale aired in July 2022, with former stars including Kylie Minogue and Margot Robbie returning to help it bow out in style.
Just months later, in a plot twist that nobody saw coming, Neighbours was saved by online streamer Amazon Freevee and brand new episodes will debut from Monday.
On Thursday, the cast including Alan Fletcher, Mischa Barton, Rebekah Elmaloglou, Georgie Stone, Tim Kano and Stefan Dennis came together for the opening of The Neighbours Experience – an immersive experience taking place at the Protein Studios in Shoreditch - which celebrates the show’s hallowed history.
In addition to exploring the immersive set, the cast also took part in a Q&A Panel.
A number of celebrity fans were also in attendance, including Rylan Clark, Gemma Collins and Diane Buswell, who competed against superfans in the Ultimate Neighbours Pub Quiz.
From today (Friday) and for the rest of the weekend, fans can visit The Neighbours Experience, which brings iconic locations such as Harold’s Café, Lassiters, and Karl and Susan Kennedy’s living room to life – with iconic props and costumes such as Kylie Minogue’s wedding dress.
Speaking about the cultural importance of the show at the event, Neighbours stalwart Fletcher said: “Neighbours isn’t just a TV show, it’s a part of people’s lives…”
Teasing what new fans can expect “If you turn on the new Neighbours next Monday, having never watched an episode in your life, you will have no problem falling in love with the show.
“We have a mix of favourites and fabulous new people in the cast…it’s back and better than ever!”
