Neighbours actor with a secret Liverpool connection

Neighbours is one of Australia's biggest TV exports to the UK and it has a loyal fanbase across the country.

Viewers will be well acquainted with Kyle Canning who moved on to Ramsay Street back in 2008. The actor who plays him, Chris Milligan, 33, has entertained fans with numerous storylines from steamy relationships and being blackmailed by a corrupt police officer to temporarily damaging his eyesight by looking at the sun during an eclipse.

But some may not know much about his off screen life and his connection to Liverpool, the Daily Star reports.

Though he might be thousands of miles away in Australia, Chris has a key connection with the UK, and Liverpool in particular - he is a fan of the football scene. He isn't the only one among the cast who adores Liverpool FC - as Alan Fletcher, AKA Dr Karl Kennedy, is also a fan, and says the team is pretty big over in Ramsey Street.

Chris is a devoted family man and has recently announced his engagement to Neighbours co-star Jenna Rosenow. Jenna, who plays Amber Turner on the Aussie series, and Chris started their romance on-set and confirmed their engagement with a sweet snap on Instagram last year.

The pair shared the news with a picture of themselves on a beach in Malibu, California, with Jenna's engagement ring seen in the snap. They were seen looking lovingly into each other's eyes on the sand, in front of a stunning sunset backdrop.

Chris captioned the picture: "How good is the sunset?" It didn't take long for the stars of Neighbours to rush to the picture to share their congratulations for the happy news.

Ben Hall, who plays Ned Willis, wrote: "Congratulations guys." April Rose Pengilly, aka Chloe Brennan, said: "CONGRATULATIONS!"

The pair both left the Ramsay Street soap in 2016 to pursue opportunities in Los Angeles, with Chris later returning in 2019. Jenna played Amber Turner for three years.

Following her exit, she had a guest appearance in DC's Legends of Tomorrow and starred in Netflix drama Firefly Lane with Katherine Heigl and Sarah Chalke. Chris is also a devoted uncle to his niece Myca and often posts sweet snaps of their fun outings together with his sweet German Shepard pup in tow.

Having taken a break from the Aussie soap to pursue other ventures, Chris hit gold when he starred as a featured extra in the HBO miniseries The Pacific. His appearance in the American war drama beefed up the rising star’s acting resume after the show won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Miniseries and was nominated for the Golden Globe Award for Best Miniseries or Television Film.

The role was the first major casting for the star since his appearance as Kyle Canning in Neighbours. Chris has also played a cameo role as a student on the Australian police drama Rush and appeared in thirteen episodes on the television series Dead Gorgeous in which he played main character, David.

Furthering his bid to pursue stardom, Chris made guest appearances in Winners & Losers and Arrow, and also played Danny in the feature film Overture. He also appeared in the American supernatural horror film The Gallows Act II.
