Neeraj Chopra becomes first Indian to win gold at World Athletics Championships

NEW DELHI: Indian superstar Neeraj Chopra created history by winning the gold medal in the javelin throw event at the World Athletics Championships held in Budapest. With a remarkable throw of 88.17m, Chopra not only secured his first-ever world championship gold but also became the first Indian to achieve this feat at such a prestigious event.

In the final, Chopra faced a minor setback with a foul throw in the opening round, making him the only athlete to not register a throw. However, he made a stunning comeback in his second attempt, hurling the javelin to a distance of 88.17m, which ultimately secured him the top position.
