Need a Valentine’s Day movie? An unlikely streaming service has the perfect pick

Valentine’s Day is finally here and people are looking for something to watch with someone special. Well, Tubi has you covered with their latest release.

Kissing Is The Easy Part stars Paris Berelc and Asher Angel. It’s just a sweet little movie about love and we don’t really make enough of those. If you’ve been on the Internet for a while now, you’ve seen this argument crop up more than a few times in recent years. It’s hard not to agree when you see so many big releases in the romance genre skipping theaters and heading to streaming. But, Kissing Is The Easy Part joins How to Lose a Popularity Contest as proof that the free streamer is taking romance seriously.

Kissing Is The Easy Part sees Angel’s studious Sean has high hopes to get into MIT. Enter Berelc’s rebellious Flora who isn’t really interested in school. Things get interesting when her parents present Sean with an offer he can’t refuse. Woo their daughter and get a recommendation letter to the school of his dreams. But, what if they both catch feelings in this strange arrangement? Are you in yet? Because I am. We used to get these kinds of love stories by the truckload, and we can again! Apparently, they’re just gonna live on Tubi now.

We have argued in this space that people need to put their money where their mouth is when it comes to romance movies. And, that fact still hasn’t changed. Although, with all of this buzz, it feels like Wuthering Heights will trigger the same discourse cycle we’ve been having for about a decade now.  Namely, is romance as a genre back after one big movie does an impressive number. To be fair to Romancelandia, it’s not like we don’t do the same thing with basically every genre of film these days. (Largely because search engines hoovered up the incentives to write about the films themselves rather than drama that surrounds them.)

Where is the movie streaming?

Kissing Is The Easy Part stars Asher Angel and Paris Berlec.

Kissing Is The Easy Part is streaming for free on Tubi. It was released on February 13. The movie is directed by Fawzia Mirza and stars Asher Angel, Paris Berlec, Tom Keat, Hayley Festeryga, Roshahn Dhore and more. You can watch it here!

Why should you watch Kissing Is The Easy Part?

Kissing Is The Easy Part stars Asher Angel and Paris Berlec.

Well, if you love romantic comedies, this feels like a new generation’s stab at some tried and true formulas. People like to quibble with Tubi’s output. But, their recent track record suggests that the rom-coms will continue until morale improves. For fans of the genre, that’s enough to spark some hope on its own. If you’re looking for a bit of fun chemistry between two young actors that clearly enjoy being around each other, you’re going to have a good time.

If anything has become apparent in early 2026, love is having a real moment. Just a little while ago, Heated Rivalry basically took over the Internet. It’s brought so many people into romance books and TV in general. (This new movie isn’t nearly as steamy as that, just so we’re clear.) However, that bit of levity after staring at your phone for multiple hours a day can do wonders for your outlook on things!

Balancing fun and structure

Still, that’s not the only reason to stream director Fawzia Mirza’s latest love story. (Her movie The Queen of My Dreams from 2023 is a heartfelt love story that deserves its own shout-out.) Mirza let her actors have a lot of freedom. That exploration leads to some great outcomes. Angel told Yahoo! Canada that the buddy dynamic between him and Tom Keat benefitted from the director’s steady hand.

“It was pretty easy for me to just immerse myself in being in those high school halls. Like, oh, this is my buddy. I’m not popular. Oh, there’s a pretty girl. I’m going to go talk to Flora. … And having all the extras there. Also, Fawz gave us so much freedom to just spitball ideas and improvise,” he mused. “And there were a lot of scenes with Denny too where [Tom] would just pull something, or he’d say something that was so good, he would improvise. He improvises so well. His improv is so good that it would just be hard not to laugh.”
